Electron-energy-loss Spectroscopy of KxC60 and K-halides: Comparison in the K3p excitation region

چکیده
We have investigated the electronic structure of KxC60 (x = 0 ~ 6) using low-energy electron energy loss spectroscopy (LEELS), especially focusing on the K3p core-electron excitation spectra. It is found that the structure of the K3p-excitation spectrum of KxC60 quite differs from that of KCl. Furthermore, the K3p-excitation LEELS of K3C60 has been revealed to be different from that of K6C60. K3p electrons are excited into K4sand K3d-derived empty states in both KxC60 and KCl, but in the case of KxC60 the K3d-derived empty states have a rather complicated structure where several levels are not well separated. Consequently K3p-excitation LEEL spectra of KxC60 show wide-spread plateau-like structures. The difference in the K3p-excitation spectra of K3C60 and K6C60 is considered to originate from the different crystal field around K cations in the C60 molecular crystal.

EEDF MEASUREMENTS AND EXCITATION PROCESSES IN THE VICINITY OF A HELIUM DISCHARGE CONSTRICTION
Axial distributions of plasma and floating potentials, electron number density and the electron energy distribution function (EEDF) have been measured in the double layer (DL) region of an He discharge constriction. Excitation processes in the constriction region are studied. Using a linearization method for the nonstationary balance equations and choosing appropriate discharge conditions, ...

متن کاملSynthesis, Characterization and Catalytic Activity of Ligand Stabilized Palladium Nanoparticle: A Catalyst Compliment to the Heck Coupling Reaction
The palladium metal is the most frequently used metal because of its excellent catalytic efficiency and most flexible varying oxidation state. So, we report that palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) stabilized by a ligand (o-vanilindiphenylethanedionedihydrazone, L) using reverse micelles method have been synthesized, while all particles are in spherical shape and ranging between 10 and...
متن کاملCollective oscillations in a single-wall carbon nanotube excited by fast electrons
Electron energy loss spectroscopy is a well adapted tool for the investigation of the valence excitations of individual nanometer-size particles. The interpretation of the loss spectra of such small particles, however, relies in most cases on a quantitative comparison with simulated excitation probabilities. Here we present a formalism developed for the interpretation of the energy loss data of...
متن کاملImpact of potassium doping on the electronic structure of tetracene and pentacene: An electron energy-loss study.
We report the doping induced changes of the electronic structure of tetracene and pentacene probed by electron energy-loss spectroscopy in transmission. A comparison between the dynamic response of undoped and potassium-intercalated tetracene and pentacene emphasizes the appearance of a new excitation feature in the former gap upon potassium addition. Interestingly, the momentum dependency of t...
